A bite of the Apple

Decca did the Beatles a great favor when they turned them down-history would have never been the same and it could have ended up like the Applejacks who met the Beatles in 1964 and ended up recording a version of the song Decca turned down-Like dreamers do-a song on the Audition tape which Decca actually made an acetate of.
Their music was basic high school pop and the sleeve of their album showed them sucking toffee apples! Maybe a premonition of sorts to the other Apple which was also reflected in their name.
So imagine Decca signing the Beatles instead of rejecting them. The first single would have been Like dreamers do-hardly the greatest Lennon/McCartney song but would have been of interest to Decca who were more in favor of high school pop than the retro music the Beatles offered. They would have been no more than the voices on a single full of session musicians and at the most could have had a cover in the States by Bobby Vee. By the mid 60s the Beatles after a flop follow up chosen by Decca would have been history same as the Applejacks whose final chart entry was this Beatles song
Think about it
