The Beatles as a backing group

Though the Beatles were in Hamburg to appear as themselves they ended up being recorded by Bert Kaempfert as the latest incarnation of an ever changing lineup of Beat Boys used by Tony Sheridan.
It was in fact Sheridan that Bert Kaempfert was interested in recording until one of the musicians remarked that he should record the Beat Boys in their own right.
From this session came a hit single by Tony Sheridan of My Bonnie the single Brian Epstein was being asked for in his shop and had been played at the Cavern.
The disc was issued in the U K in January 1962 though it was already 6 months old.Whether Epstein had anything to do with it depends on what books you read but Polydor were licensed to the U K
Thus the so called Beatles First LP was Tony Sheridan and 4 tracks by the Beatles but the tracks have been passed off as the Beatles for years
