Vee Jay were the first to put the Beatles on the market as they had second option to release things from England eg Frank Ifield.
Making a lot out of a little they issued an album with a built in contest as the label were given a year to keep their rights to Beatles product.
A year earlier no one would have given their songs one vote but it was not really that fair a contest when the Seasons were there with huge chart toppers with the Beatles just the tracks from their first U K album
